Boston Area Site Director
ACEing Autism, a non-profit program that provides tennis clinics to children with autism, is seeking a site director for its Boston area operations.
The ideal candidate:
- is passionate about working with children on the autism spectrum;
- has a background in athletics, preferably tennis;
- is well-organized with superior spoken and written communication skills
Special educators, youth tennis or adaptive recreation professionals, graduate students preparing to enter these fields are particularly encouraged to apply.
The program currently run in two sites in the Boston area on Sunday afternoons: 1 to 3pm at the Longfellow Club in Wayland and 3 to 5pm at the Weymouth Tennis Club in Weymouth. We are looking for someone who can be onsite, driving between the two sites when necessary, each Sunday between September and May.
The position has three major areas of responsibility:
1. Onsite management of the program: Coordinate program participants, volunteers, court assignments and equipment; field questions from parents; carry out clinic plan (e.g. skill of the day), implement visual supports and other best practices for working with kids on the autism spectrum.
2. General administration: Recruit and schedule volunteers, manage participant registration process, communicate with parents and volunteers by phone, email, weekly email newsletters, use Facebook and Twitter to publish social media updates, coordinate ACEing Autism participation in community events and fundraising efforts, manage logistics with host facilities (tennis clubs).
3. Program Development: Create overall session plan and develop/purchase necessary materials, evaluate program expansion opportunities, ensure consistency and compliance with ACEing Autism standards.
Position reports to Founder/President of ACEing Autism (who is based in Los Angeles) and a local Boston area Board of Directors. Expected time commitment is approximately 7-10 hours per week when the program is in session (September-May) and 3-5 hours of administrative work per week in the summer when the program is not in session.
